bone broth
makes 32-64 oz
ingredients
- bones from a whole chicken
- 3-4 whole carrots, peeled and cut into 1-2 inch pieces
- 1 white onion, quartered
- 3-5 whole cloves of garlic
- handful of whole black peppercorns
instructions
- If the bones are from a raw whole chicken, roast in the oven at 400 degrees until cooked through (~30 minutes). If the bones are from a cooked whole chicken, no additional roasting is needed. At this point, you can freeze the bones for later bone broth making.
- Add all the ingredients to a slow cooker and cover with water. Cook on low for 24 hours.
- Strain the broth using a fine mesh strainer into a container. Store in the fridge for up to a week or pour into gallon freezer bags and store in the freezer forever.
